Leaked set photos from Black Adam feature the comics-accurate costume Aldis Hodge will wear when the Dwayne Johnson-led film debuts in 2022.
While fans have yet to see an official trailer for Black Adam, leaked photos for the Dwayne Johnson-led film showcase Hawkman’s comic-accurate look.
Though the Black Adam leaked photos did appear online, they were quickly taken down. However, they did offer a look at the costumes Dwayne Johnson will wear as the titular DC antihero, as well as the body armor and helmet for Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman. The armor and helmet are very similar to that worn by Carter Hall in the DC Universe, especially the helmet in particular. Two versions of the helmet show it with and without the wide wings at their sides. Another photo also offers a better look at a Thanagarian ship.
Aldis Hodge was revealed to be playing Hawkman back in September 2020, with Johnson sharing Hodge’s reaction to the news. “HAWKMAN is a critical leading role for our movie, as he is the fiery leader of the JSA (Justice Society of America) and one of the most beloved and legendary characters in the DC UNIVERSE,” the Black Adam actor wrote on Instagram. “I called Aldis personally as I wanted to surprise him that he got the role and it wound up being one of the greatest conversations I’ve ever had.”
Joining Hodge’s Hawkman in the JSA are Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Sarah Shahi portrays Isis and Djimon Hounsou plays the Wizard.
A very short glimpse of Black Adam footage was shown in the latest trailer for DC FanDome, a 24-hour virtual fan convention taking place on Oct. 16. Around the 30-second mark of the trailer, a scene of Dwayne Johnson in a dark setting is shown, with small glimmers of light passing through in the background.
Filming on Black Adam officially wrapped in July, with Johnson thanking the cast and crew for their hard work. “I’m a lucky, lucky guy to have the career that I’ve been so blessed with. But it doesn’t happen without teamwork and so many of you have been my family over the years,” Johnson said.
“Years and years now that we’ve worked closely together. Black Adam, it’s a career definer for me,” he continued. “I can’t thank you enough. Truly, from deep in my bones, for the commitment and the sacrifice, the time away from your family, to make something special for the world to enjoy.”
Black Adam releases in theaters on July 29, 2022.
