Bhopal: Man steals employer’s old smartphone, threatens to leak personal photos | Bhopal News


BHOPAL: A 26-year-old has been arrested in Madhya Pradesh‘s capital city Bhopal for stealing a cable operator’s old mobile phone while cleaning his house and leaking his personal photos with his fiancé on social media.
Post accessing the photos, the accused threatened the victim about leaking the photos and demanded a sum of Rs 1 lakh from her.
When the victim did not pay the money, the accused made five fake Facebook accounts and shared the photographs publicly. The victim then lodged a complaint and acting on it, the cyber crime branch on Tuesday nabbed the accused.
The accused has been identified as Shahrukh Khan, 26, a resident of Ashoka Garden. He worked at the complainant’s uncle’s dental clinic as a compounder.
Police seized two mobile phones, three SIM cards and a memory card along with some documents from his possession.
Khan confessed to the police that he had gone to work at the complainant’s house a couple of months ago when he found the used smartphone which the latter had discarded. He then stole the smartphone and got it repaired. He found the complainant’s intimate photographs with his fiancé and used them to blackmail him.
Further investigations in the case are underway.
